Where to print passport photos, and what it costs

Once you have a photo that meets the rules, printing it is the easy part. A print sheet holds several photos on one standard photo print, which costs far less than a photo service.
Print it yourself
Most photo sheets fit on a standard 4 × 6 in (10 × 15 cm) print, the usual size at photo counters. The sheets from the Ovalight Studio also come in 5 × 7 in, A4, US Letter and other sizes for a home printer.

At a pharmacy or photo counter
Most pharmacies and photo counters, such as Walgreens, CVS and Walmart in the US, Boots in the UK or dm in Germany, can print a standard photo from a file. Order a 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm print of the whole sheet, and make sure it is not cropped or resized.
When a home print is not enough
A few documents need a professional or lab print: the UK passport (GOV.UK asks for printed photos of professional quality), the Australian passport (lab-printed photos only) and Turkish passports, ID cards and residence permits (no photos printed on a home printer).

How to print a passport photo sheet
- Choose the sheet size 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm for a photo counter; A4 or US Letter for a home printer.
- Print at 100% Choose "Actual size" or 100% in the print settings, never "Fit to page", and use photo paper.
- Check the size Measure the 50 mm ruler on the sheet. If it is not exactly 50 mm, the photos have the wrong size.
- Cut along the lines Cut the photos out along the cut lines with scissors or a paper cutter.
