What the photo resizer does
- Compresses a photo to 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB or your own maximum, with a minimum if your form sets one.
- Changes the size in pixels: 200×230, 350×350, 600×600 or any width and height, with or without keeping the shape.
- Keeps as much quality as the limit allows: the JPEG quality goes down first, the pixel size only when needed.
- Saves a JPEG or PNG without camera and location data (EXIF), turned the right way up.
- Runs in your browser: your photo never leaves your device, and the tool works offline once loaded.

Need a passport photo at the right size?
Resizing changes only the pixels and KB. A passport or visa photo also needs the right head size, position and background. The Ovalight Studio guides your phone camera, crops the photo to the exact size for your document and checks it against the published rules.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image to 20 KB?
Choose the photo, tap 20 KB and download. The resizer lowers the JPEG quality step by step and, if that is not enough, the pixel size, until the file is at or under 20 KB. It takes a few seconds and works on your phone.
How do I compress an image to 50 KB or 100 KB?
The same way: tap 50 KB or 100 KB. For another limit, such as 30 KB or 500 KB, choose Custom and enter the maximum in KB. If your form also sets a minimum, enter it too.
How do I reduce image size in KB without losing quality?
A smaller file always costs some detail, so we keep as much as the limit allows: the resizer lowers the JPEG quality first and reduces the pixels only when quality alone cannot reach the limit. If your form fixes the pixels, set them, and only the quality changes.
Can I resize a photo to exact pixels like 600×600 or 200×230?
Yes. Tap a preset or enter a width and height. If the shape changes, the photo is cropped from the centre. Tick "Keep aspect ratio" to change the size without cropping.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
Forms differ, so we play safe: a 20 KB limit means at most 20,000 bytes, which also passes forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. We show the exact number of bytes too.
Can I convert a photo to passport size here?
Only the pixels and KB. This tool crops from the centre, so it does not place the head at the size and position a passport photo needs. Test a photo you have with the Passport photo checker, or make a new one in the Studio, which crops it to the exact size for your document.
Is my photo uploaded, and does it work on a phone?
Nothing is uploaded. Processed on your device. Never uploaded to our servers. The resizer runs in your browser on iPhone, Android or a computer, removes camera and location data (EXIF) and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
