Frequently asked questions
What does the passport photo checker check?
The rules that can be measured in the photo: head height, eye position, framing, head tilt and turn, background, shadows, light, eyes, expression and sharpness, plus the pixel size, shape, file size and format the document asks for.
Can I check a DV Lottery (Green Card Lottery) photo?
Yes. Choose United States and DV Lottery, then your photo: the checker tests the pixel size, shape, file size, head position and the other published rules for the entry photo. Only the State Department decides whether a photo is accepted.
Can I check a US or UK passport photo online?
Yes. Choose the country and the passport, then your photo. The checker uses the published rules for that passport, including the pixel size for online applications where one is published.
If every check passes, will my photo be accepted?
No tool can promise that. Only the authority that issues your document decides. We check the published rules that can be measured, which catches the most common reasons for rejection.
My photo failed. What now?
Retake it in front of a plain, light wall, facing a window, or use the Studio: it guides you live and crops the photo to the exact size. If only the pixels or file size are wrong, the Photo resizer fixes that.
Is the checker free, and is my photo uploaded?
It is free, and nothing is uploaded. Processed on your device. Never uploaded to our servers. The face detection model runs in your browser; it is downloaded once (about 16 MB) and then works offline.
